Mr David Rae
Studied medicine at Westminster Medical School, qualifying in 1986. Mr Rae’s surgical training included lectureship in anatomy at St Bartholomew’s and a period of full time research for a masters degree. He was appointed a Consultant Surgeon in 1996 with an interest in Upper GI and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. Mr Rae has set up a tertiary referral centre for pancreatic cancer and complex benign pancreatic biliary disease, referring patients from a wide are in the eastern region. He also has a busy laparoscopic (keyhole) practice particularly with regard to gall bladder surgery and surgery for reflux disease. He continues to be an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as well as convenor and member of faculty for the Basic and Higher Surgical Skills course at the same college.
Mr Isam Osman
Qualified from Khartoum University in 1987. Mr Osman moved to the UK to complete his surgical training in 1991, and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1992. He trained at the University Hospital Birmingham, Dudley Road Teaching Hospital and Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry before his appointment as Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon in Ipswich in July 1996; making him one of the youngest consultant general surgeons in the UK at that time. Mr Osman has extensive experience in all types of vascular surgery, specialising in varicose vein surgery as well as more complex arterial surgery such as Aortic Aneurysm surgery, Carotid surgery and Lower Limb Reconstructive surgery. He is an established surgical trainer as Chair of the Basic Surgical Training Committee for East Anglia as well as being a Royal College of Surgeons Tutor. As a result of these roles he was awarded an FRCS (Eng.) ad eundeum in 2005.
